Many seasons ago, three evil Twolegs captured six cats from the forest and tossed them into a mesh-wire cage. Paying no heed to the cats' infuriated yowls, the Twolegs shoved the cage into the back of a truck and drove off, congratulating each other on their success.
The cats conversed in low tones while the Twolegs drove the truck over a rough road, introducing themselves to the others. There was Twist, a black she-cat; Screech, a wiry brown tabby she-cat; Breeze, a golden tabby she-cat; Storm, a Russian-blue she-cat; Claw, a brown tabby tom; and Talon, an auburn tom.
All too soon, the truck screeched to a halt and the cats were separated into cat carriers and brought into a white-tiled room with more white tiles. The Twolegs, scientists, took the cats one by one into another room and experimented on them. The result was raptor-like wings that extended from the cats' shoulder blades. Th wings were the size of the cats themselves, and the colored similar to the cats' pelts; Twist had black wings, Storm had white-and-gray speckled ones. The Twolegs toyed with them some more, giving them lighter bones through an extremely painful operation, better night-vision, etc., but the body of their work on the felines was finished.
The Twolegs also gave each cat a name, unaware that the cats' already had titles. Twist was Raven, Screech Owl, Breeze Eagle, Storm Osprey, Claw Falcon, and Talon Hawk. Eventually, the Twolegs experimented on roughly sixty more cats, granting them wings and the other traits the six original cats possessed.
One day, Screech broke the lock on her kennel and sprung the others' with her nimble paws. The cats swarmed through the door on silent paws and padded out the back door. They were free!
Each cat combined their given name with the name the Twolegs had given them — Twist became Raventwist, Screech became Screech of Angry Owl, Breeze Eaglebreeze, Ospreystorm, Falconclaw, and Hawktalon. They became the leaders of what are now know the Winged Clans.
